Currently under construction and being completed in 2026, this new building is replacing an existing branch on site. Minnequa Works CU first engaged with Staywood Design to remodel the existing structure which had come with the property when it was purchased. After exploring different layouts and costs to re-utilize the space, the team at MWCU determined they’d prefer a new building to suit their operations. With the branch location’s growth in mind, Staywood Design performed a space analysis to ensure the new building would accommodate all the team and members’ needs, but also account for future flexibility.

Within the last few years, Minnequa Works has added a few new locations to their branch portfolio, which resulted in a predetermined interior branch aesthetic. However, it had been years since they had built a branch and wanted to choose a look was modern but also celebrated the community’s heritage in steel manufacturing. To do this, Staywood Design utilized exposed steel beams and placed them in a diagonal pattern that mimic the lines in the letters “M” and “W”. These letters are more than just the initials of the namesake of the credit union, they are also for the original seg, Minnequa Steel Works. The construction team took extra care to ensured that this steel could be sourced locally from producers in Pueblo.
